On Competition

Stop Feeding the Beast

Each expression of the life force — each agent of consciousness — is utterly unique.

Yes, you too! You are unrepeatable.

Not a single leaf mirrors another; each carries its own pattern, its own truth.

So where is competition in this universe? Evolution has been painted as struggle, survival of the fittest — yet even there it is not about better than, but about life discovering new ways to blossom.

When each being unfolds into its full potential, the whole becomes richer, more complete. That is beauty.

But the moment we say I want to be better than you, we plant sickness. What it really means is: I want you to be less than me. That is ugly — the pleasure of another’s failure.

From there the shadows multiply: War, where nations feed on nations and call it destiny. Bullying, where one fragile ego props itself up by breaking another. Social exclusion, the walls built around tribes, genders, classes, races — all to cling to a false sense of superiority. Depression, the inner war that comes when comparison turns inward, when the self becomes its own persecutor.

And beyond the personal — Greed, the endless hunger to own more than the other. Corruption, the manipulation of systems so that one rises by keeping many down. Ecological destruction, where the earth itself is consumed as though it were an opponent to conquer. Slavery in new forms, people reduced to numbers, profits, statistics. Even in Art, even in Spirit, the poison seeps — creativity measured in sales and status, enlightenment twisted into hierarchy and rank.

This is the dark underside of competition: envy masquerading as ambition, cruelty dressed as strength, progress fuelled by destruction.

The cure begins close to home. Start with yourself. Look at your own actions, the tiny rivalries you feed, the small cruelties you excuse. Refuse them. Withdraw your energy from the game. Instead, pour it into your own unfolding. Be the change you long to see in the world — practice it.

Your only real business is this:

What is the best I can do with myself?

You are already full-fledged, full-on life. Incomparable.
And when you live from that truth, you give others permission to do the same. That is how humanity changes.
